A Brief History Continued
The Dover Express was present at the handing over ceremony and reports appeared in
several local newspapers and even the Daily Telegraph.

When I first joined there were over 20 scooters on the books and the Dover Saints was a thriving, self-supporting Club.
The members laid down Club policy at weekly meetings at the George and Dragon at Temple Ewell. I seem to remember that we moved to the Wheelwright Arms on the Buckland Housing Estate later.

We were extremely fortunate that Bill Adey, then owner of Dover Motor Cycles in London Road was Club President. He gave the Club tremendous support and would nearly always accompany us on Club runs with his Austin pickup stocked with spares. Bill was probably the man who had more to do with the success of the Dover Saints than any other. Although he always strenuously denied helping in any way, there were many members who were extremely grateful to see him on a Sunday night after breaking down miles from home.
